    Stair Detailing

I've been approached about doing stair drawings for metal fabricators.

What, if anything, are you all using software wise and what should I look for?

And any thoughts you may have. Thanks.

As always, it depends on the results required.

If they want a 'specification' model/drawing to give to Architects I would recommend Revit.

If they have their process down and they just want some simple calculations, AutoCAD will do it.

If they want folded metal details, frame cut lists, hole patterns etc, I would recommend Inventor.

There are more specialized programmes out there. I know that Radan (makers of AlphaCAM) do some specific CNC code generating programmes for Timber stairs - I'm not sure about metal ones, sorry!

    Thanks for the input.

Most of this is the other way around: Architect specifies the shaft and other info and the fabricator needs shop drawings.

A fabricator in my area suggested products from SSDCP. Apprently these are discipline specific and have shapes, connections, templates already to go.
