Seeking a reseller

We are seeking a reseller for Autodesk Civil products. Location is not
crucial other than continental US. Good support, honesty and integrity are
most important. Recommendations are welcome.

Locate an Autodesk Reseller in your area at www.autodesk.com/reseller

And I think some do meet those criteria.

Location matters a lot, since resellers have territories that they can
sell in. You can go to the Autodesk website to find one authorized to
sell to your location.

One thing to consider - where you buy your software doesn't have to
equal who you receive training, implementation, and support from. For
example, I am limited to selling Civil software in the southeastern US -
but I can support and provide services to anyone in the world.

Figure out what you want in a reseller - do you want the cheapest
possible software, or would you rather have the best service and
support? I'm going to give you a hint - it's rare to find both of
those qualities in the same company.

I was not aware of territories so that will change the game. I would rather
have a reseller who would be honest about what we really need rather than
what will make them the most money. If we only buy the software and not
support I would think we would be less likely to get an honest seller as it
would be a case of take the money and run. Our current reseller can't seem
to give us consistent pricing. Part of that may be Autodesk's constantly
changing pricing structures but unless we start checking everyone else's
pricing we have no way to know, do we?

Neil,

I'm not in sales, so I may not have a clue what I'm talking about, but it
seems to me that the differences in pricing between resellers is fast going
away. I'm not sure how much I can say about Autodesk policies in this area,
so I best not go any further, but I think the days of price shopping are
rapidly coming to an end. And good riddance, IMHO.

I agree fully with Matt here...Autodesk changes pricing very frequently,
which may seem like why you get different prices whenever you call.

And look at it in a different way - anyone can sell you a box of
software (well, anyone who is authorized by Autodesk), so you should
select a solutions provider rather than a simple reseller - give your
business to the company that you find can support you best, whether
that's simple call-in or email support or full blown implementation
services.

There are national level consulting services providing implementation help on a number of product lines.
Lot of them hang out around the various discussion groups.

Since no one has actually given a name of a reseller they like I'll
throw out there that is you have access to 'the cad store', I have
absolutely no complaints about them. I've used them for more than 10
years now and have never has problem one. They do training, support
and sales. They are based in Peoria AZ, but have multiple locations
in multiple states now, so there may be one you can use.

Good people all around. The owner, Stephanie Kvamme is a great lady
and she's done very well with her business.

Support is great, they've always worked with us on pricing since we
usually buy several seats at once, and we've sent several of our
employees there for training.

Again, highly recommended if you can use them.

If you find a reseller that meets your needs (or a recommendation for one), and if they are out of your "reseller" area, you can send an "Out-of-territory" request through that particular reseller's Autodesk sales rep. They should be able to provide you with that information. I've always thought the territory limitation is ridiculous. Private (free) enterprise dictates that one should be able to buy product from wherever they deem fits their necessary needs/wants.
