Pros/cons on HP8500

Is anyone using the HP8500 color laser as a 11x17 printer. I have been
told it is quite slow for printing the color prints, while it is fast
for black.and white. I need to get some input as we need to make a
decision on a printer very soon. I talked with Robert Mcneel and Assoc
in Seattle who said it was a good but pricey printer. They said that
since it is new technology it is slow. My question is how slow are the
color prints.

I just printed a 231k jpeg (color digital photo) to fit on 11x17 (this
kicked the size up to 4.8mb) and picked it up in under two minutes.
Compared to our old printer, that's fast. It does take a few minutes to
warm up from powersave mode, but when its warm, look out.

We use it primarily for color output (digital photos, Corel, etc...) and
have been quite pleased with both the speed and the quality.

good luck
