I like no. 3 also - theough it seems a bit limiting - I would have thought the addition of any way that works might cover it. I am having issues retrieving scans from a Xerox scanner at the moment, nobody seems to think its their problem - IT say its the siftware, software support says its our network or setup, me I found that I can access the scanned hard drive using internet explorer and the ftp:// then the ip address of the scanner and its directory and then save using save target as- and its quicker than the supplied software. I have passed this to my other users with the same problem (about 3 out of 15 users) so until IT and software support figure whose problem it is we can all get to the images scanned - CAD managed :-)

Ok I found this one - not my IT- it was the anti virus - I have now added an exception so that it ignores calls from the xerox software when blocking ftp incoming and outgoing. I have informed my IT and they will be spawning that one out to everyone in the next anti virus update - Gah IT Hmmpf
internet explorer worked as that was on the exception list.

Tried to create the reset disk. Got as far as trying to put a blank, formatted floppy in my non-existent floppy disk drive.

Well, Thank you! I took it as such. I'm honored to be part of the former hacker virgins. Is this an elite group, any initiations? Please, no hazing. I have to keep my dignity in check.

Every computer I build still has a floppy drive, they are around $10 and
only get used for this type of diagnostic work.

I normally do to. I was on the "floppies are old technology" band wagon when I bought it. I've been cussing the decision about once every two or three months when I could use one. I suppose I could just install one.

I spec one in all my computers nowadays.
