Newsgroup synchro problems?

Updating message headers has been slower than molasses the past week - is it
just me or is everyone else having problems too?

There's a bad post somewhere. Your reader (and mine) tries and tries to
fix/read the post and gets nowhere. Individually the groups sync just
peachy, but he initial lookover and header count hang. I'll start a new
reader session for the first half of 2008 and retire the last half of
2007 to archive. I blame the Web based groups... -Bill

Yep, here, too. I've filed a complaint with the Discussion group manager, no
response yet. But who knows if anyone's around this week or next.

If it's a bad post somewhere, as Bill T. suggests, why is it happening to so
many? Mine hangs on each and every group I'm subscribed to, not just one or
two. Takes about 30 minutes to complete a check for new posts on 12 groups,
and it's also happening on the myfeedback forums. I think it has something
to do with the Adesk servers and some new software they may have installed,
maybe to try to minimize the Spam that had been on the rise?

hmm, I know the myfeedback forums are supposed to be upgraded soon,
aren't they? maybe this is related. I haven't set up the myfeedback
forums in my newsreader since the last upgrade though, only webside.

I'd be happy if they *could* get rid of the frickin spam... lol...
nothing like having my boss walk in, glance at my screen and see some of
the those thread titles that would come in.

well... nevermind that...

it went through fine once, but, firing it up again, it hangs as usual.

Well, after allowing the groups to be auto-checked for new messages the past
few hours, I can say that the sluggishness & hangups appear to be solved.
Back to working as it always has, albeit I haven't seen any spam yet!

Well, it was good for a week or so, then degraded, now it's nearly as bad as
it was when this thread was started. 😞

and the spam is still here, too.

Come on Eric, get this thing back into shape! (I think Eric is still a part
of Adesk's newsgroups....if not, this is directed to whoever took his
place.)

I've been back and forth...

I've got three or four newsgropus that I visit from within Thunderbird.
The first time I launch the application, the DG's come in fine. But, if
I go over to one of my other folders, then come back to this one, it
goes all wonky like that. So, I shut down, and open it up again later
when it will be fine. ~shrug~

yeah, how hard is it to filter keywords like "porn" or "sex" in the subject ?

i'm pretty sure they are off-topic for these groups.

oh well, at least they are usually deleted by the time i *accidentally* click on them. 😉
