ok, i have spent the past several weeks working on templates and charts for movign our offices to use the NCS v4.0. while doing some prelim. show and tell, a question on the discipline designator came up on why i was using two letters and not just one. my response was using VF = Survey Field, CG = Civil Grading, CS = Civil Site helps the layer name be descriptive and sort better in a list.
so to shorten this up my boss wants to know what to other firms use? a single or double discipline designator.
thanks!

A single discipline code has been sufficient here -- mostly a mix of civil and survey work
generally different 'types' under the same discipline are in separate drawing files xref'ed as needed.
