Geometric 2D Compare Products

I am trying to find a program or company that has a program to geometrically compare AutoCAD 2D files. We have an issue between two sister companies that have multiple files 20,000 that need to be compared. We would like a program that would at least help recognize the files that are identical so we would not have a person checking redundant files.
Please advise,
Thanks, JD

First you could obviously compare at the OS level for filename sizes,
dates and times.

We have had recent requests for multiple file version of our drawing
file compare utility. If this is something you would like to discuss,
email me at dotson at dotsoft.com.

Thank you and we have looked at that also. The only problem is the person who opened the drawing to print on our side qsaved each time. Which changed time and date. It also went from ACAD2000 to ACAD2004 and file size changed slightly so we are still...up the creek.

With 20,000 files to compare you sure don't want anything that opens
them in the editor. What would be the starting point for the compare,
two folders with subfolders?

Like most things, its possible.

The only way to try to automate this task without a human operator involved
is to write software that will save each file as DXF so the software can
then parse each line of the DXF file(s) to determine which files are the
same and which are different. There is a common tool called "diff" that does
this work on any file that can be read as text but a diff tool requires an
operator to discern the differences that are mapped to a graphic user
interface. One free release I am aware of is called ExamDiff.

Hi JD,

We developed a Standards application that compares multiple dwg files to a
standards file. The application also checks individual objects for standards
violations.

This could be a good basis for what you are looking for.
