Dynamics Blocks and legacy

What it is the matter about the legacy with dinamycs blocks (DB) form 2K6 to previous versions?

Can I insert them to previous versions? I think not. If that happen, the DB I will going to create can not be used for the rest of us that have 2004? Or I have to copy and paste?

We were thinking just upgrade ABS2K5 to 2K6 (suscription) and keep another installations in 2004 for a while...

What happen with mvparts and mvblocks created in 2K5, and updated in 2K6? Can we see them in 2K4?

A 2006 drawing with an existing dynamic block will show up as a normal block insert in 2005 and earlier versions.

They cannot be "inserted" inside earlier versions since there is no programming code to support the grips/parameters of the new blocks.

So you can see them as a static insert in 2004, but you cannot manipulate the dynamic paramters/grips.

You can still use and share your blocks, like always.
But only 2006 will see and use 2006 block features, every other version will
just see the static block we've gotten used to seeing in earlier versions.

But If you create a library in 2006, others 2004 installations can insert the blocks? So your lost the "connection" with your earlier versions... at least you upgrade everything to 2006.

The thing is that the users with the newest version are the people who create the new libraries and so on.

YES, older AutoCAD versions can use blocks created by 2006.

They just cannot use them like 2006 can.

Instead of rephrasing the question, why not just try it in both programs in
your office and see what I mean 🙂

When you do, test with it. That will answer all your questions.
