Dual Monitor on Notebook?

Anybody have a solution for dual monitors on a notebook pc? Would like to
purchase a portable to replace my desktop setup, but won't if I can't
configure w/ dual monitors. I've talked to Dell, Micron, Compaq, HP. Dell
was most helpful, but their solution was a docking station that allowed a
monitor hookup and the second monitor would be the smaller flat screen from
the notebook itself. Not really what I had in mind. Any other third party
solutions or suggestions in general would be greatly appreciated.

Ed,
We are currently have a couple of laptops with docking stations: full size

I take it you want an expanded desktop with 2 extra monitors, correct?

I have heard of docking stations that allow you to put in your own video
card to drive the monitor(s). In this case you could run a matrox, appian
or dual head 3d card.

I can't remember who offered them.
I alsa saw a review not too long ago of what looked like a minitower, but
was actually a breakout box for you laptop that plugged into you card slot.
it had pci slots and mounting bays for hard drives. If I find the info I
will post
