Do any of you know if.......

Do any of you know if network licences can be pooled?

By this i mean rather than having 10 network licences available to everyone with the software installed, is it possible to group say 3 of these licences to be made available to a group of about 6 PC's

At present we reserve licences for PC's of heavy users but we would like to reserve about 3 licences for use only by 6 PC's in a certain team and the other 7 licences to be available for the rest

Is this possible?

I am not sure what you mean, but if I have guessed right, you can use the
portable license so that you can have 3 licenses for use on the 6 pcs, but
only three of them at a time could be used. It is similar to checking a
book out of a public library. In this case you are checking the software
out of the network for use on machine A, and when it is done being used, it
is checked back in, and then machine E can check it out and use it. I think
there is a maximum of 6 months that it can be checked out, and I am not sure
if it would be a minimum of 24 hours or if there is no minimum time. This
would also work similarly if someone wanted to check it out for use on their
home PC or their home laptop.

The other 7 users would just sit all day, every day, at the same computers,
and use the 7 licenses. They also can utilize the portable license, but
would not usuall do so.

Someone else more familiar with this can go further in depth, but this is a
good subject for you to take up with your reseller.

We looked at this a few years back and were told (by our reseller who
supposedly got it from AD) that it could be done and it involved having a
second serial number issued for the second group. The cost for this was
something like $200. Then you can get a new license file and set it up on a
another server or as a second service on the same server. You also have to
create a new deployment using the new serial number...

Have you looked into the Options file of the Network license manager? I did
something like this at my last firm.
