Daylight Savings Time & Xrefs

We have a client running AutoCAD 2004 on a Win2K PC. She called me today
because everytime she loads a dwg with xrefs, it indicates that the xrefs
have changed. She assured me they have not but she reloaded them anyway.
Within a few minutes, the message pops up again. Strange thing is only
certain of the numerous xrefs are indicated each time.

After some time she informed me that she had used tzedit.exe from
microsoft.com to correct her system clock for the "new" daylight savings
time rules. I had her rerun tzedit and set it back but the problem persists.

Has anyone else run into this problem this week? Is it related to DST? If it
is, how can it be corrected?

Thanks in advance.

Could it be something simpler, like someone else has the Xref open and is
regularly saving the file (or has autosave on every "few minutes")?

No definately not - she was having the same problems last night after she
said everyone else had left for the day. She found that if she opens each of
the xrefs and saves them the problem goes away (for that drawing). But EVERY
dwg (with xrefs) that she opens now has the same problem and even if she
RELOADs the xrefs, within a few minutes the reload notice pops up again.

I've found that auditing and correcting errors in the drawings that keep
coming up as changed sometimes corrects this problem. Also, the problem
xrefs I run into tend to be drawings that began life in a different acad
release. I doubt your problem has to do with the time change.

we run into this fairly often. open the offending xref, purge, then do an audit, and save as.

That should fix it.

Not sure if it was "operator error" or if the time zone update utility is
buggy but I had her check her clock settings and the date was set to MARCH
(which is when DST started this year). Eitherway, client is happy because
the problem is resolved. Thanks to each of you for your input.

Autosave doesn't save the file over to the original DWG file. That is saved in
the TEMP folder or whatever is configured in the user's Options.
