Cad Manager Pay

I manage the Cad stations for about 70 people at a major company for
aout 2 years. I make $13.72 an hour in the Chattanooga, Tn. area. To
me this seems low on the pay scale. Can I get some imput on how much
others make in this field.

Thanks,

52 cents , a bottle cap and government cheese. Seriously the pay range will
vary from 12 - 25 depending on all of the usual factors and largely on the
employer.

That does seem low for the number of workstations: are you in a rural or
industrial setting/area, or in a historically low paying industry like
manufacturing or drafting-outsourcing? (forgive me, not familiar the
Chattanooga, Tn.)

Have you asked your Personnel director if your payscale is comparable to
those in other departments of equal seniority/responsibility?

Is your pay based on company defined educational and work experience
requirements, or company seniority levels or grades?

How much is your cost of living in San Antonio?
Message 7 of 39

pretty cheap, cheapest in Texas for the size of the city, especially
groceries and houses... its really nice.. the weather is nice, except for
the heat.... however, i do not know of too many other techies working in
this town that get my kind of pay.... they are out there, though.... i also
have yet to run across anyone (besides the guys at DC CADD) that know more
than me (not trying to be big-headed, just telling it how it is).. but i
know they are out there, too....... you wanna move here????

yeah, houston is too big... traffic here in SA is real light, especially
compared to Houston... if you leave work at 6:30 in the morning, there is
hardly any traffic and getting to work is fast....

I'm the only draftsman here and I make $13/hr. I went to college for
drafting, I reallly can't complain though. I don't have anyone else but
myself to worry about and the drawings are a cake walk. I just draw layout
plans of roofs, where the roof top units are located, etc.

I'm the lead CAD plumbing detailer for a plumbing company in california,
right now I'm only getting around $18.64 an hour plus a very nice pension
and beni's.

My old Detailing Manager (the Jedi master who instructed) was pulling in
over 100K a year!
But then he does have 3 decades of experince with this stuff and came up
with some awesomely innovative stuff (and there were some other things going
on that would make it a long story)

But I think the CAD 'detialing' side of things blows things out of
proportion compared to CAD 'drafting' because detailers are basically field
engineers, so it's not really a straight accross the board comparison, it's
also Southern California the cost of living is pretty high here unless you
have a 100 mile commute.

I manage about 20 stations and make a lot more than that. But, I have near
20 years of experience, a bachelors degree, and am very close to getting my
RLS. I can tell you this much - $13.72 is WAY too low for a CAD Manager
working that many stations ANYWHERE. Look for a raise, or look for a new
job. If you have 8-10 years of experience you are worth $18.00 or more
almost anywhere.

Interested in a comparision of salary. I'm from Sweden and would like to
know how much is let's say $50k compared to Swedish conditions? (I know what
this is in SEK, but what's involved must be very different) Is it before
taxes are payed or?

generally, yes, before taxes ( take home pay is probably about 75% of that)
but not including the value of "benifits" (health insurance, retirement
plans, life insurance, etc.)

I think the rates depends on the area you are living in. I am making over
50K right now and I'm living in Silicon Valley (California). 50k is average
over here.
