CCTSETUP.EXE and ScriptPro

Hello,

I'm researching the usage of some of our older CAD tools particularly in CCTSETUP.EXE for possible updating in the future and would like your feedback on the following tools:

1. ScriptPro
2. AutoLisp Compatibility Analyzer
3. Command Alias PGP Porter
4. Layer State Converter

Which of these tools do you use (if any)? Also, please feel free to comment on how we can improve the tools as well.

Thanks in advance!

We use ScriptPro frequently with much joy and of 40+ users have never used
any of the others. I can't imagine any improvement you could add that would
make it any more efficient.

I could see giving the Layer State Converter a go under different
circumstances, though.

ScriptPro is the #1 tool around here too. Works great.
The others are of little or occasional use for us, not
interested here.

1) I still use ScriptPro regularly. By default, it launches the last
acad.exe that was run, but I'd love to have an option to specify which
acad.exe.

4) If you do away with the layer state converter, it would be nice to add a
feature in AutoCAD that can be used to purge LMAN/RAK layer states.

Doug

Please please continue the development of ScriptPro. Its free and It works
great. I would just like to see it installed with the OTB autocad just like
the Reference Manager is instead of a seperate installation.
It would be nice if it was updated a little, here is my list in order of
first to last of improvements.
1) What would be nice is if it would not close an autocad session and start
a new one for every drawing. That makes the scripts run longer.
2) The file dialog boxes were updated for modern windows conventions like
the add/remove worked more like a regular windows file dialog box to allow
cut and paste and drag-n-drop
3) If the program could remember its setting such as the Timeout (45
seconds). I always have to change that value to something like 300 for 5
minutes. Sometimes it takes 45 seconds to launch autocad and open the
drawing and then scriptpro closes the .dwg before it did anything.
4) What would allow more users to use it is if it was integrated into
AutoCAD and it had a macro recorder. Take a look at the Acrobat Pro >
Advanced > Batch Processor. Its very intutative, not to say that ScriptPro
is not, its just simpler to batch process.
5) Another thing to look at is that my Microstation users use a product
called Axim tools. I have no idea what it does but they love it. Might
give you some ideas 🙂

One thing that would make it much easier for the end user is if it had a
built

Thanks. Left out the part about being voted #2 Best Small Firm to Work for
in CE News' 2006 survey, though.

Hi Doug,

Our company uses Scriptpro a lot. None of the others. Improvements suggested by some of the posters above especially about which version of autocad scriptpro should work with and the one about not shutting down Autocad for every file to be processed would really be wonderful.

Another thing would be an option in scriptpro not to load any xreferences in the drawing. This would speed up drastically operations on sheet files with multiple xrefs.

An Improvement to ScpritPro:

Currently it opens and closes AutoCAD everytime it processes a drawing.

It seems it would run alot faster if:
it would open AutoCad,
open the first drawing,
run the script,
close the drawing without closing AutoCAD,
then on to the next drawing.
