Have you considered swithing to dwf format? Then you can use the publish
command and it will create a multi sheet single drawing file for the whole
shebang that you can view in internet explorer. I have found it to be very
compact and the resolution is great. Te viewer is a free plug-in for IE and
if you want to actually use it for markups you can get the additional
program that allows for that too at a low cost (at least I consider it low
cost, $99)
If you want to stick with pdf, do you have acrobat 5.0? if so, you can set
up Acrobat Distiller to print to a certain plotting subdirectory and as long
as you do not have any extra (.) period symbols in your file names other
than the one separating the name from the file extension, it will also work
with publisher or with batch plot to create a whole lot of pdf's without a
lot of work. They are each separate files, which in my book makes it
clumsier for archival purposes, but then again you can send individual files
to clients who may only be interested in certain sheets from the set.
