questions from newbie...

My company is currently looking at purchasing document and content manager
software from a company called Stellent. It seems to be wholly inadequate
for CAD applications (particurlarly Land Development and
Microstation\GeoPAK). Looking for some quick ammo to slow this freight train
down and have them widen their search some. If somebody could please answer
a few questions for me I would appreciate it.

1.) What is the scenario\strategy Buzzsaw uses to manage file locking etc.
on a Land Dev database when several offices are collaborating on the same
project.

2.) What capabilities presently exist to facilitate Microstatio\GeoPAK files
(sorry for saying the bad "M" word, but reality dictates we must deal with
their needs also).

You can go create a Buzzsaw site for a 30 day trial right now. Go to
http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?siteID=123112&id=2404761 and you
can be playing with the software in 5 minutes. You can create a project,
upload a DWG, and then invoke "edit" from the ProjectPoint menu. You will
see how a small lock appears next to the file. If you go to another machine
and attempt to edit the same file, you get a warning that the file is
locked. It will let you do it, but you will get a warning. As far as
ProjectPoint goes, you can upload any kind of files you want -- even
Microstation ones. If you have an ActiveX Control for DGN files, it will
view the files within ProjectPoint. So a Buzzsaw site can handle the "M"
word.
