Equipment Mapping

Hi there,

I got my Search Sets Navisworks model into Field and going through Equipment Mapping. I realised that I have to pick one Serch Set at a time and select the fields I want in my equipment list.

is this true?? (surely not)

Is there a way for me to apply a "template" to all of my search sets? Am i expected to go through hundreds of sets and set each and everyone?

Please tell me there's another way...

Hello Eldad,

Thank you for participating in our community!

I would suggest that if you want to map multiple equipment sets at once then you could use the standard setting which is pre-configured with the most commonly used properties. But unfortunately at this time the BIM 360 Field is not supporting templates to apply fields that you want in the equipment sets. If you have any feedback that you would like to submit regarding any enhancement, please click on the “BIM 360 IdeaStation” link on the BIM 360 community home page.  This will help the Project Manager and developers hear your voice on any changes/concerns with functionality directly for consideration in future builds.

Thank you and have a great day!

Best regards,

I just realized that you can create an equipment set in glue from the object properties. So if you create an equipment set from say Revit Type>Category>Light Fixtures then all light fixtures will be added to that set.

Then in field when you map using GUID then each light fixture gets turned into a separate equipment record.

I used to tihnk the same about wanting templates (which could still be of use but isn't nessesary in my mind)

I'm not sure if you were doing it like I had thought I had to and are creating separate selection for each object (which was crazy). Probbaly not, but just in case I thought I would post this.

Hello Steve,

I did not find the BIM360 Field Navisworks plugin, would you please advise where to download? Thank you.

Sorry zlfyy,

This workflow is based on using Glue for equipment mapping not Navisworks.

If you have the latest updates to navsiworks 2016 you can open a glue model from navsiworks but I have been told by autodesk that search sets/find sets will not flow through to field if the model didn't start as a Navisworks model. So in my case, the models went through Revit to Glue and there doesn't seem to be any way to create equipment sets in Navisworks.
