Hi,
When we are retrieving material from Wiretap we are able to saturate the GigE pipe. but when sending material into Wiretap it caps around 30 MB/sec even when trying with a variety of strong client machines. So I am wondering if there is a server setting that is limiting to this value?

No, there's no such setting.
30 MB/sec happens to be the maximum thoughput you would get from a typical IDE drive. Are you reading from disk to provide the source data to send to the server?
Aside, there are many potential reasons for performance drops.

Well we are reading from disk, but most of the content people send with our stuff is compressed QTs, so really the input is much smaller than 30 MB/sec, but goes over the GigE as uncompressed RGB.
Does that reservation setting in sw_config have any affect on Wiretap?

The sw_config setting does absolutely nothing.
I suggest you run wieap_client_tool with the -c parameter to read a clip and report the performance numbers. I think using the -d (destination) may also report write values as well.
This will give us a baseline for read/write performance on the system in question. Message was edited by: dlabute
