    Seems IFFFS/Stone/Wiretap doesn't allow TapeNames greater than 8 characters long.

    Yes, this is a limitation of EDL ... which is the intermediate transport protocol.

    XML does not have this limitation. The client was use the FCP/XML/tether workflow.
