    Dear Wiretap SDK Developers,

In case you missed it, Autodesk announced flame 2008 last week. Below are the public details:

    http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?siteID=123112&id=7243442

Flame 2008 also comes with a new version of the Wiretap Server and SDK. Some of the major features are listed below:

o SUPPORT FOR FLOATING POINT IMAGES
Now that IFFFS natively accepts floating point images as input, the IFFFS Wiretap Server serves up and accepts raw float and half-float media.

o ACCESS ALL PROJECT AND USER METADATA
Wiretap clients can now implement copying and moving of projects and users between stations using new methods in the WireTapServerHandle class. New samples (copyProject.cpp and copyUser.cpp) have been created to show how to access all ASCII and binary user preferences and project setup files, along with existing project and user metadata.

    o ONLINE SDK REFERENCE
The C++ API Reference Guide has been augmented, and is now in HTML format.

    o DOCUMENTATION OVERHAUL
The developer’s guide has been completely reworked, with more complete descriptions of the media formatting and metadata, as well as an extended set of fully commented sample code.

Wiretap 2008 is scheduled for release with flame 2008 later this fall. As usual, we look forward to your feedback.

    Best regards,
