Autodesk Vault

I have recently set up a new server machine with Win Server 2003 R2. In this server machine I installed ADMS. Installation completed successfully. The problem is that when I try to connect with Vault Explorer 5.0 to the server and when I write to the login form server name and try to search for databases I get the following Message:
'Vault Explorer 5.5 could not find Data Management Services on '
What shoul I do???
In the Administrative Tools\Services I checked for all services that might be needed but they are all started.
SQL Server Service Manager is not running in server but i cannot find a way to start it.

Try running Vault Manager on the server to see if it can see the vault(s).
If it works then the database is up and running. When you exit Vault Manager
it will check to see if the web service is running and if it isn't, it will
prompt you if you would like to start it - say yes.

Next, try to use a web browser on the server to access a web service
description:
http://localhost/AutodeskDM/Services/SecurityService.asmx

This will verify that the web service is up and running.

Next, use the same link above from your client machine, replacing
"localhost" with the server's hostname.

If you see the page, you should be good to go. If you get a 404, then my
first guess would be that either the server is running a firewall that is
blocking port 80, or you did not have IIS installed on the machine prior to
installing the ADMS.

I have the same problem. I have checked that the server is in progress because so much responds with the beginning page with http:\\localhost as http:\\[nombre server] and also in "http://localhost/AutodeskDM/Services/SecurityService.asmx"

But I am not able to connect the server from Inventor's clients and Autocad neither with Autodesk Vault Explorer 5. He always gives me the message "Vault Explorer 5.5 could not find Data Management Services on [name server] "

Yo tengo el mismo problema. He comprobado que el servidor está en marcha porque responde con la página de inicio tanto con http:\\localhost como http:\\[nombre servidor] y también en "http://localhost/AutodeskDM/Services/SecurityService.asmx"

Pero no consigo conectar al servidor desde los clientes de Inventor y Autocad ni con Autodesk Vault Explorer 5. Siempre me da el mensaje "Vault Explorer 5.5 could not find Data Management Services on [nombre servidor]" Message was edited by: jaraute

How do I get the web service up?

Johan,

Are you performing this test from the client or from the server?
You should do this from the server.
If you are doing it from the client make sure you change "localhost" to the
server name.
That is if the client isn't also the server.

If it still fails, what is the error it gives you from the server?

The client and the server is the same machine.
I set up a small test environment to get a feel for how the Vault works.
Vault worked for a while but then I ran the server diagnostics tool which a warning that I should reinstall .Net 1.1. I reinstalled and since then I get this error (see attached JPG).

Do you have IIS installed?
If so, try http://localhost to see if any thing comes up.

If you don't have IIS installed, uninstall the ADMS server, install IIS then
re-install the ADMS server.
Do not uninstall the SQL server.

You can start the web-service in Vault Manager. If you exit Vault Manager
and it sees that the service is not running, it will ask you if you want to
start it - say "Yes".
