SQL maintenance plan options changes in 2012 version

Hi Sirs,

I can see that in ADMS advanced configuration guide, options for SQL maintenance plan have changed. Now we do not check shrink database option.

Is important to reconfigure the SQL maintenance plan for previos versions??? 2011, 2010,...

Hi,

That recommendation would be good for previous releases as well. Guidance from Microsoft indicates that shrinking the database has adverse effects like fragmenting the table indexes. And it doesn't really provide much benefit since the database will eventually autogrow anyways. In general I would advise not having this option enabled.
