Problems with copy design or rename when using numbering schemes

We are trying to implement numbering schemes in vault workgroup 2011 using our predefined categories and using an auto-generated number sequence. while testing we came across two problems:

1 - When using copy design the numbering scheme is not accesible, temporary file names must be given to later use the rename function.

2 - When using the rename function on an IDW and its associated IPT or IAM will result in incrementing both file separatly and giving them different file names.

    Example:

    ABC001.idw - rename to new category - XYZ001.idw

    ABC001.ipt   - rename to new category - XYZ002.ipt

    Thank you,

    Jason

A hotfix has been released for the renaming issue :

    http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?id=16428729&siteID=123112&linkID=9261341

Now that the rename function has been addressed are there any plans to incorporate the numbering scheme with copy design?

    Thank you.

Is there any news on incorporating the numbering schemes in the Copy Design tool?

We are currecnlty using the same filename for the ipt/iam and idw.

Without this we are having to first copy the design, then apply the numbering scheme to the ipt/iam's, and then finally updating all the idw names to match the ipt/iam's manually.

    Hello,

We are aware of this limitation and we are looking at addressing it in a future release.

    Thanks

    Hello,

I skip posting a new thread about this topic.

I'll add here the same request to enforce the need of such a functionality. Both commands (numbering scheme and copy design) are very helpful functionalities inside vault but must be combined as soon as possible. It is absolutely inconvenient being forced to use the rename-command only to get auto-numbered the copied files. It's very time-consuming and leads to more unnecessary file versions.

We're facing more and more situations where this scenario occurs - that's why it would be greatly appreciated to have this issue fixed within the next vault release 2014.

    Autodesk - please prioritize this!

    Thanks and Regards,

    DK

Just installed 2013 and disappointed the numbering scheme functionality within a copy design has not yet made it into any releases since 2011. Upon recommendations from our software reseller we are on a two year install cycle..... So here’s looking at 2015.
