License managment in Vault 2011/2012

Hi,

I am wondering how licenses are issued by the Vault server 2011/2012?

1. Are licenses issued by the machine or by the user?

Example:

On the same computer, there are two processes of Vault Explorer run, each is logged for the different user ? Are two licenses required OR just one (because this is the same machine)?

2. Does licensing management differ in Vault server 2011 and Vault server 2012 (regarding per user/per machine licenses)?

How Licensing works hasn't changed since it was first introduced in 2010 and its the same in 2011 and 2012.

Hi Richard,

Thanks a lot for your reply. Based on the movie on the web site you have provided, it looks that when using multiple Vault clients on the same machine, only one license should be consumed.

But unfortunatelly, when I am running TWO processes of Vault clients for different vault users on the same machine, TWO licenses are used (I can see it in debug log file of lmgrd). Do you have some suggestions why is this happening ? I am using Vault server 2011.

its supposed to take 2 licenses

thats how the vault licensing works
