We are experiencing some challenges using 3dsmax in our production environment.
Network rendering with X-refs is not possible without merging the x-refs into the scene prior to sending to Backburner due to the fact that Vault working directories are designed to reside on local drives.
Bitmaps are not an issue as they can be included with a network job, however, x-refs such as a max file or vray mesh are not "packaged" with the network job.
A few alternatives would be to point the working directory to a network drive but this can be risky and negates the advantages of working locally. Ideally Backburner would include the x-refs as it does bitmaps when sending the job.
Are there any users with similar experiences or workarounds?
