It would be very nice to be able to assign a numbering scheme per file category. That way if certain files need to conform to a particular naming scheme, they can. Others might be able to be manually numbered.
Autonumber on check-in would also be useful. If someone is working offline (in the field or at home for example), when they get back on the network they could check in the files and choose between the available numbering schemes for the file category that they chose (or was selected for them).
Being able to AutoNumber the members of a table driven model would be very useful.
An add-in that would allow a unique property to be generated and assigned would would allow movement away from the requirement for file name uniqueness. It would also be useful in other, less drastic applications like reference designators.
When i use "Copy Design" i always need to use the second Command rename with "numbering scheme".
Can you change the Copy Design Dialog with build in Auto File Numbering. So i can do it all with one Command.
Vault must check if the file is locked or not before asking to check out.
If the file is locked => don't ask, just open-it read only.
If the file is not locked => ask if you want to check out.
Thanks in advance.
Please redesign the Job Processor so it doesn't open and close Inventor/AutoCAD for each and every job it performs, its highly inefficient and slow as a sloth. It should only open and close Inventor if it needs to change the project file. But I assume it just uses the Vault project file set in Vault Options.
It seems like there's no BOM data from Revit,Architecture,Plant 3D. Can we believe that Autodesk will try to create something likely?
The possibility to change font color of Obsolete files and items
Hello,
to copy a design needs often a lot of time to rename.
If the copy should bei in the same folder, you have to delete at every file the " (2)" and rename it.
There are the options prefix and suffix but i think its not enough. With them you can olny add something, not replace ore delete.
With options like rename it will be quicker.
Example:
You have files with speeking filenames like this:
0100.025.001
0100.025.002
0100.025.003
0100.025.004
...
and want to make this:
0100.026.001
0100.026.002
0100.026.003
0100.026.004
you have need a lot of time.
Best regards
Michael
At my point, it miss the ability to go from the software file directly to the same file in the vault explorer.
It would be perfect to be able to right click in the navigator/explorator of the software where we are working right now to directly have the vault explorer open and the same file selected. Or, at least, visible.
You can actually open a file from vault but not the other way.

Francis
