Anne, No I'm referring to the post that were here before the Welcome Post (as the subject suggested).

    There were 4 posts:

R.K. - I honestly do not know. I do not remember removing them. Please repost your question if it
    pertains to the new group.

The question was "for what purpose was this newsgroup created?, and Chip answered it - then it disappeared.
But the intro post confirms the answer.

My only question is why weren't these 3 groups just combined into autodesk.field-survey.general ?

Chip had the original messages in his cache and they are quoted below. These were not deliberately
removed so I am sending in this case of the "disappearing messages" to the web team.

I do not have an answer to why they were combined other than that the number of groups is being reduced
    and consolidated.

Where is the intro post for this group from Autodesk?

Is this just a consolidated group for Autodesk Survey and
    Autodesk Field Survey?

That will be very confusing. As one can tell from most of
the posts in the "Field Survey" group - most people do not
know the difference between these two very differnet
    programs (Field Survey and Survey).
