Hello,
I am a civil engineer attempting to do surveying, so keep that in mind. I am using C3d 2010 sp2. I have a fieldbook file that I have attached with a closed traverse that I am attempting to use civil3d to perform my traverse adjustment. I have an initial setup at point 1, initial backsight of point 25 (with pt. 25 ~ pt. 10), stations 2-10, and a final backsight of point 11 (with pt 1~pt. 11). My control points are set at 1 and 11.
From the research I have done, it seems that I need to have a direction instead of a shot for my initial backsight (i.e. AZ 1 25 315.000) but I can't figure out how to input a direction with more accuracy. If I enter a direction of 315.3152 for example, the fieldbook wont' import. However, even with the direction set at 315.000, c3d still doesn't bring in point 11 and it doesn't draw a line from 10 to 11.
Any help with this would be much appreciated.
Thanks

This worries me about as much as a post in an engineering newsgroup starting "I'm a Surveyor trying to design a bridge so bear with me". But I'll try to help.
My suggestion would be to ZD to create the coordinates of 25. "See Creating an Observation Using an Azimuth" in help.
Something along the lines of ZD VA 25 315.3152 787.58500000 ; 90.00240000 "TP10". Stick that at the top just below the NEZ for 10.
I use the FBK sporadically so there may be a better way.

Hi,
I'm not quite clear on the issues you are experiencing, but in order to
clarify how your traverse data is being handled I stripped all the side
shots out of the file and changed a shot from 14 to 49, to be 14 to 11
since points 49 and 11 were more or less identical.
You may care work with the attached file to sort out how the traverse
tools work.
