I have just aquired a GTS-236W Total station and would like to connect my iPaq 212 via bluetooth to download simple surveys.

Is there any free software available for doing this? We only use the Topcon for fairly pasic layouts and levelling and there is no way my boss will pay for thousand dollar plus software just to allow us to do this?

Well, if you are using Windows for your operating system, either XP, Vista, or even Win 7, you can install the latest Bluetooth Manager right from Microsoft. This should be certainly suitable to transfer files between your data collector and PC.

If you prefer a more standard approach, log into the Topcon website, and search for Topcon Tools. I believe that was still available as a free download. This can be used to convert Topcon formatted files, etc.
