I am a land surveyor and I would love to see Land Development come back. I now use Civil 3d and it is very overkill for surveying purposes. It is a great design tool but it is horrible for surveying. I am trying to get our office to go to Carlson. Is there anything in the works? Another thing is that if you have started a drawing in Civil3d 2010 and then you open it in Civil 3d 2011 you wont be able to see the points. That is terrible. Is anyone else feeling my pain?

I feel your pain, but Land Development is pretty much a dead software. After about a year of growing pains I've become used accustom to C3D and can honestly say I don't want to go back anymore. Once you have a good template and all your settings dialed in there are significant productivity gains. The new linework commands work very well, for instance. Surface creation is faster. Also, the way the survey database tracks the source of the datafiles is great, making it easier to go to a fbk file or txt file, edit and re-import. Before when I looked at coordinates in a database there was no record keeping.
What specific issues are you running into?
(running C3D 2012 sp3, Win7 64bit)
