Field Survey is Obsolete

I understand that Field Survey has been upgraded by Carlson to 2004 with bug fixes and new routines and now it is called XML Survey. I have recommended to my department to follow this upgrade since I have seen no indication that Autodesk plans to continue upgrading the Field Survey program. This makes me wonder what the purpose of this discussion group is since Field Survey, as far as I am concerned, is obsolete.

Weak attempt as support?
Since none of Autodesks' dealers were ever able to support it.
