    Decicing Packing Time

    Hi Everyone,

I want to know the different ways which you follow to decide upon the packing time for a given part.

How do you decide upon a particular value of packing time.

    Thanks in advance,

    Ashwin

During  moldflow flow analysis-Option-1. Find out gate freezing time. packing time = gate freezing time - fill time.

During mold trails- Option- 2.  Take a weight of each shot, by increasing packing time in each shot. once after weight becomes consistent .Freeze the packing time.  It can be within 5-6 shots, you can set packing time.

And also Time can be set based on required dimensions also. If dimensions are varying based on pack timing. Then it can be fine tuned with required dimensions.

    Hi Madhu,

    Thanks for your reply,

In simulation, do you really reccommend to pack till the gate freezing time, and again, this is dependant on the gate size i have used for simulation.

And by the way what is the best method, you think to find out the gate freezing time.

Option 2 is ok, for practical purposes.

check a frozen layer fraction plot Or time to reach ejection tempearture for getting gate freezing time

But later wil give you 2-3 sec more than required for gate freezing time.
