    Hi friends,

I am trying to export stress data to Abaqus from a 3D analysis. After running the VB script mpi2abq.vbs i got the following error.

    script :  mpi2abq.vbs

    Line:    153

    Char:    3

    Error:    0xFFFFFFFF

    Code:    FFFFFFFF

    Source: (null)

    Please guide me on this,

    Thanks and regards,

    Hi Vikas,
I will contact you as additional information needed about this topic:

Operating System, Autodesk Moldflow Insight package, study size.

This can be related to above such as: if a large 3D study an 32-bit OS can not address enough RAM (max 2GB).
Autodesk Moldflow Insight Performance required as Warp writes initial stresses required for mpi2abq

This means running Fill+Pack in Autodesk Moldflow Insight Basic and Autodesk Moldflow Insight Performance is not enough.
A Fill+Pack+Warp has to be runned in at least Autodesk Moldflow Insight Performance.

In Process settings Advanced options tab Warp you can set Interface to other structural analysis options:
    - No initial stress output
When selected, the initial stress tensor is not exported, and the warp analysis is done as usual.
    - Output initial stress tensor and continue
When selected, the initial stress tensor is exported, and the warp analysis is done as usual.
    - Output initial stress tensor then stop
When selected, the initial stress tensor is exported, and then the warp analysis stops before generating results.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,
    Berndt

    Hi,

I have run A Cool+Fill+Pack+Warp in Autodesk Moldflow Insight Performance.

    and

In Process settings Advanced options tab Warp I have set Interface to other structural analysis option below:

    - Output initial stress tensor and continue

Please let me know if this is sufficient

    regards,

    Hello,

I am new to this abaqus interface and I am also trying to export residual stress data to abaqus.

After running the script, the files are created, but the xxx_initStresses.xml is only 1KB.

Then, in the Abaqus command line I type the commad to execute the Abaqus Interface for MoldFlow, but almost at the end it exits with the error:

    xxx_initStresses.xml:12:0: no element found

Property file xxx_initStresses.xml is not a valid XML file

The MoldFlow simulation was a 3D Warp.

Could you please help me with this?

    Best Regards.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

    some questions:

Which release of Autodesk Moldflow Insight are you using?
Which material? Please, supply material details used, Manufacturer/Tradename.

I tested on a part with 3D mesh type in Autodesk Moldflow Insight 2012, SP2, with the Generic unfilled PP and 3D Warp and then mpi2abq. The script creates the files as expected.

The the xxx_initStresses.xml  should have quite some data.

    Regards,
    Berndt

    Hello,

I am using MoldFlow Plastics Insight 6.1 and the material is a Polystyrene Styron 678E from Dow Chemical Europe.

    It is a 3D mesh, Flow+Warp analysis.

Among the files created by the script there is also one error log file:

    xxx_mesh.err

I opened it with note pad and the content was just:

    IDMSG=3001121 11

    0

    0

    Thank you for your reply.

    Hello again,

I was able to resolve my problem.

In the 3D Warp advanced options (in Process Settings), I deselectd the:

"Use mesh aggregation and 2nd-order tetrahedral elements"

The xxx_initiStress.xml has now content and the Abaqus Interface to MoldFlow translation completed with no error.

Thank you anyhow for your attention.

    Hi,
thank you for the update, and good you solved it.

That is correct, that Warp 3D must run without aggregation option in order to produce initial stress file for older Insight releases.
Since Autodesk Moldlfow Insight 2011, no matter the if aggregation mesh is on or not, it always goes to non-aggregation route for generating interface files.
As I tested in Autodesk Moldlfow Insight 2012, SP2 it worked fine.
