Good morning all,
Can a part have surface contact with itself? For example, a structure imported as a solid CAD model that buckles onto itself but does not penetrate itself?
Thanks.

Hi,
If you are making a MES model, make the surfaces of contacted portion not exactly matched, then in MES surface contact UI you would be ale to define the contact pair of same part/surfaces.
If you use LSS, you probably also have to make the contact portion slightly seperated and then manually define some gap elements there to simulation the contact.

If MES is used, in the general surface-to-surface panel, you can define the contact pair:
(1) if you know the two surface ID (such as 1, 2) of the surfaces in the same part, you can define the contact pair as
Part/surface 1 with part/surface 2
(2) otherwise, set part with part
