    One direction translation constraint

    Hello Everyone,

    The question is fairly simple:

1- Is it possible to create a constraint in Non-Linear Analysis so that a node would not be able to displace in one sense of, lets say, X, but to be allowed to displace towards the other sense?

    Thanks for the reply!

    Hi scudelari,

You would need to use some type of contact to accomplish that type of "constraint". Which option you choose depends on the particulars of the model, but the ones that come to mind are the following:

    • One of the contact elements (Contact, Coupling, or General contact elements)
    • Surface-to-surface contact
    • Impact plane.
