Measuring applied load for an object moving under displacement control.

    Hi,

I have a situation where I am modelling one bar moving at a constant displacement rate, pushing against a bending object. I want to know what load is having to be applied to move the bar at it's constant rate. Is there some way to extract this value? I have been using the magnitude of the reaction force on the underside of the bending object, but I'm not sure if that is correct.

    Thanks for any help.

In the Results interface, change the result type to Reaction Forces.

Select the surface (more specifically all the nodes on that surface) to which you have applied the surface prescribed displacement. Right click, inquire results, and change the operator to “Sum”.
