For a interior fluid flow analsyis  does the fan surface also need to be a Inlet/Outlet surface and be eliminated from boundary conditions ?

    Thanks,

    Tim

Internal fas are defined by material, not BC. The flow rate or fan curve is defined on the matrial property

For an external intake fan - does that surface need to be defined as an inlet/outlet in addition to the fan defination.

You just define with the external fan bc. No pressure needed.

yes.. but, may be obvious (or not), you should have other "outlets" defined via PRES = 0 so that air is either exhausted or sucked in from external fan
