using AISC ASD 89 ,Robot doesn´t refuse the section ,but it seems that the checking is wrong.

Kl/r is calculated as zero although K ,l and r are not

Is it possible to correctly verify this type of section using ASD or any other code? thx

Please read http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/Autodesk-Robot-Structural/STEEL-DESIGN-USER-SECTION-Different-Section-...

The key point is that saving the section to the user database you should assign it the correct section type (e.g. a structural tube) selecting it from the available list.

Thanks Artur,

Does Robot use h,b and t data from the " save to database" window during the checking??I ask that because t is not the same for the webs and the flange.

Also, When I save it to the user database and try to find it on the section database table(ruserpro) ,all I see is the "test" section. My sections appear normally importing through section definition

B,t,h are used to determine section class (slender, compact etc.). The code does not have any specific provisions for verification of the section you created therefore you have to make the decision which verification path is to be used. This is done by selecting the section type. This determines which verification formulas are to be used.

Most likely you have more than one user section database and you open not this one you saved your section in.

The paths to standard section databases

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Structural\Common Data\2013\Data\Prof

and user section database

C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Structural\Common Data\203
