How can I make sure that the beams carry the slab and not the other way around?

I would check the deformation of the model. If the beam deforms as a 'whole' then the influence of beam is small or any. If you have 'separate' deflections in each of the fields then beams support the slab.

Will I do by "offsetting" beams under the slab?

Yes, this will 'increase' the stiffness of the beams.
