    RC beam module error

    Hi All

I have a really a serious problem with the RC beams design module. The problem occurs  even though we have reinstalled everything from scratch. Basically It seems that the problem is caused by an Incorrect overlapping of longitudinal reinforcement bars, which causes, as conseguence, a reduced resisting moment in several sections of the beam. A suspicious behavior is that Robot don’t save some parameters as new default.

P01 – Picture showing the incorrect longitudinal bar

P02 – Picture showing strange behavior in reinforcement

P03 – Picture showing reduced resisting moment

P04 - Picture showing parameters not saved as default

P05 - Picture showing Error caused by the incorrect longitudinal bars overlap

Could you send me the rtd file with generated reinforcement for the beam shown on the pictures and indicate which beam it is please?

    Hi Artur,

I have spent a lot of time trying to reproduce the error in a small file in order to send it to you. In the effort I have found something that, I think may, help. I cannot understand why the error appears but I have found a walk around. The simple Beam you will find attached don't works correctly but ... If you change the regulation for RC element design from DM14/01/2008 to Eurocodes, design the element reinforcement, switch back to  DM14/01/2008 and design again reinforcement robot works fine.

    Thanks

    Gabriele,

On my computer it is enough to open the file you sent and calculate the beam to get the correct reinforcement arrangement. Perhaps the source of this situation is the reinforcement pattern you defined and used for this beam. Please try to open the Reinforcement Pattern dialog and select Standard from the list. Is the reinforcement generated in the same way after you calculate the beam?

    Artur,

I followed your suggestion but things do not change. However, if you have as default The Eurocodes regulation then you're not in my conditions. The problem occurs when you use ICK selecting DM14/01/2008 and disappears when you change the regulation of RC elements.

Also i n my case, changing from DM14/01/2008 to Eurocodes the problem disappears.

Do you kow how I can restore completely the files with standar settings?

    Thanks

    Hi Artur

I am trying to understand which is the problem but the situation is getting worse and worse. I canceled all settings for the reinforcemend calculation using calculation option delete.

The new calculation of reinforcement gives a lot of errors. See the picture 01. The advice is very strange !! Why you have to use reinforcements bars of 32 mm ? The generated reinforcement is shown in the picture 02.

There no reason, in my opinion to use this kind of bars !!.

If you try to exclude the biggest bars to obtain a more feasible reinforcement, the situation changes but you will find a situation depicted in the previous post of the topic. See Picture 3.

It seems that there is some problem in the generation reinforcement and Robot try to use really big diameter bars. In this case Robot takes a lot of time to design a beam (for complex beam chain from 2 to 5 minutes).

As stated from the advice, Robot don't  generate in this case the bars overlap. Another strange thing is that, in this case changing the diameter available it seems that the option remains active. I don't know if it makes sense and can help to find a solution.

    Thanks

    Gabriele,

Please try to restore the default settings. To do so rename the CfgUsr folder (change its name to e.g. 1CfgUsr1) located depending on the OS in:

    Win XP:
    c:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Autodesk\Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis 2012\CfgUsr\

    Win Vista:
    C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis 2012\CfgUsr\

    Win 7 32- or 64-bit RSAPro:
    C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis 2012\CfgUsr\

Please let me know if there is any change for DM design.

    Hi Artur,

No good news (almost for me).:smileysad:

Following your suggestion nothing happen. After the CfgUsr dir renaming Robot starts with EC regulation for concrete element design. If you try to select the DM14/01/2008 you will find two regulation with the same name as shown in the picture PCT01.

Unfortunately the problem of double regulation topic appears not solved. (http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/Autodesk-Robot-Structural/Double-DM-14-01-2008-regulation/m-p/3208160/...

Is this situation related to the previous topic ?

Is the problem related to SP4 that I understand is installed in your computer ?

    Thanks

    Gabriele,

My assumption is that renamed CfgUsr folder. Please go to Job Preferences and press the indicated icon. Check the number of DM regulations on the list again.

For the reinforcement distribution issue - please try on the version with SP4 installed.

    Atur,

I have installed the sp4 and the beam reinforcement module works fine.

The directory have been renamed an Robot have recreated from scratch the directory but the double regulation problem is still there. Can you suggest a possible solution to the problem ?.

    Thanks
