I would like to know if it is possible to design pile caps using Robot. Thanks, Gustavo

No chance to do it with design object like foot or the longitudinal foundation.

Most RSA users are modelling panels as elements acting the pile caps.

This idea lets to design a pile cap as RC plate with respect to its thickness and other outer conditions.

Due to code of design program checks all ULS and SLS conditions with punching included.

Here is a simple model file.

Design as plate with simple elastic support conditions acting piles.

Run design process by code according to your choice.

    Hi,

Im trying to model a pile cap, I have given the vertical force and moments acting on the column that will be resting on the pile cap.

To get the forces acting on the piles, I modeled the piles as fixed node supports connected to another node where the forces are applied. The results are satisfactory.

Tried the same thing with stiff bars, the reactions are not satisfactory.

Also will be helpful any suggestion how to apply the force in order to get satisfactory results on the plate ( pile cap).

The above cases( rigid links and stiff bars) the moments on the plate are ZERO, I think because the forces are introduced directly to the supports, and no forces act on the plate.

Please correct me if I am wrong and any help will be appreciated

    Thanx

thank you for your help, i tried what is explained in the picture.

the piles are designed as slab-rigid diafragm???what about the column force acting place also slab-rigid diafragm or flexible???

Is the force applyed as a node force-moment in a node that is in the column acting place?

The support (pile) size is modeled as the central node plus rigid links. The column (size) is modeled as a central node with applied loads plus rigid links. The panel is defined as a shell.

    Thanx again,

anyway I tried this option too, and the reactions are almost the same as using the stiff bars?! (not satisfactory)

Attached to this post is what I am trying to model in RSA, in the pdf file the model is calculated manually, I get the same results for pile reactions, can't say the same for the moments.

    Any help will be appreciated

You may add rigid links to model the influence of piles' and column's cross sections on the pile cup.
