Apply Linear Support to Bar

Gents,
Is it possible to apply a linear support transveresly to a bar?
I'm trying to model a retaining wall (& including soil interaction) as springs applied along the length of the waler beam.
I'd prefer not to discretise the beam and apply nodal elastic supports. I'd like to keep a single bar intact.
Cheers.

I have considered using this support type, but i'de prefer the versatility of the conventional support definition. For example I'd really like to be able to fix the longitudinal direction, have springs acting unidirectionally, etc.

You don't have to divide a bar. It should be enough to define nodes (with supports) along its lenght. In such way you will refer to a single bar number for result's exploration or design.
