Adding lateral restraint to a column

Hi,
I have a structure with several floor levels, but I want to model each level individually (I won't go into the details why). Each slab is supported on internal steel columns - these will be supported laterally by the levels below. I tried to split up the column member and add these x,y restraints but when I'm analysing/meshing the model the bottom two sections are deleted (see attached).
Is there a way of doing this, I need to account for this restraint as otherwise I will get too much settlement of the slab and underestimate the hogging moment.
Thanks in advance,
Jesper

Jesper,
I'm sorry but I'm not sure if I understand the situation. Looking at your picture and the column with two additional supports along its height I assume that you defined two nodes along a column and define the horizontal supports there. Is it that when you run model generation these nodes are deleted?

At first I tried to define a 15m long column and then divide that to create nodes at the locations of the lateral restraints. I couldn't divide the column.
Then I created a column with a length corresponding to the distance to the first lateral restraint location. Then I added another column below that corresponding to the level to the next restraint location. Finally I added a third column corresponding to the length to where the column is supported at the base. At the intermediate support levels I to added an x,y support while I made it pinned at the base. After analysing the model the two lowest parts of the column were deleted/removed.
Please let me know if it's still unclear.
Cheers,
Jesper

Let me write this again to make sure I understand correctly:
At first I tried to define a 15m long column and then divide that to create nodes at the locations of the lateral restraints. I couldn't divide the column.
This should be done with no problem at all. What was the way you tried to divide the column into parts? Could you send me the part of the model with this column so that could try to do the same please?
Then I created a column ...
Do you mean that you created 3 separate bars one over the other and two of them disappeared when after model generation? Or you created these bars in such a way that they overlapped each other (or the original 15m column)? Again could you send me the part of the model with these 3 columns please?

Hi Artur,
The model called (split any column) is the one where I can't divide the column to add lateral supports. In order to divide it I tried the following: Mark the column/Edit/Divide/in distance/4.4m from the top/with or without ticking the bottom box. I couldn't divide it.
The model called (3 part column) is the one where I made an attempt to split the full column length into three parts and add my lateral supports at the connecting nodes. This was the model where the bottom members were deleted after I analysed it.
If you have other suggestions of how I can improve my use of Robot, please fire away.
Thanks for your help,
Jesper

You have both the nodes and elements as you defined them but you filtered them off on the display. In addition I would change the definition of the story (see the attached picture).
