    revit mask region not masking

None of our mask regions "mask" anything since we upgraded to Revit 2013.  They worked fine in 2012, but dont "mask" immediately after saved in 2013.  It may be a setting we have changed, not sure. They do print correctly, but would like them to show correctly in our views.   Anybody have any ideas?  Thanks!

By the way, everything is already set to hidden line.

Could you post some "Before" and "After" (2012 and 2013) images so we could get a better idea what is happening?

    Thanks,

See attached.  FYI, draw order does nothing either.

I tried creating a masking region in the Section 1 view of the rac_basic_sample_project.rvt (included with Revit), and it seems to be working as expected.

Are you able to reproduce this behavior in a new project (either created in 2013, or created in 2012 and upgraded)?

Also, since the issue seems to be display related (as it prints correctly) have you tried toggling the Hardware Acceleration setting (turning it off if it is currently on and vice versa), or upgrading the graphics driver?

If you draw a simple Detail Line across the Masking Region and then send it behind, does the line get masked as expected? If you View is a Drafting View, then what happens if you copy it into a new 2013 project?

In 2013, a detail line is not masked even after sending it behind.  But, once I inserted a "Drafting View" from 2012, that detail's masking works!  I also tried a "Drafting View" detail already in 2013, all masking in "Drafting Views" are immune to this problem, they work fine.

Not sure what this means.  Any thoughts?

    Thanks!

I created a new project using the Construction Template, drew a few walls, a detail line, and placed a masking region over a portion of both. The masking region covers the items.

I am attaching a video showing the creation of the masking region. (To view the video, unzip the SWF file and drag into a browser window.)

If you go through similar steps, is the masking region not working?

This works on a new project, but our projects that were started in 2012, then upgraded to 2013, masking flat out wont work.

Out of my frustration, I also created a support request, here is the conclusion they came to:

"This is a known issue that has been logged with our Development group. The good news is that this issue is scheduled to be addressed in the next update of Revit. Having said that, we don't have a specific timeline when the update may be released, but we believe it should be pretty soon.

While this fix is scheduled to be addressed in the next release, we cannot say for sure until the update is actually published. If and when an update is released, I would review the accompanying documentation to see if this fix is included."

Hopefully there is a patch soon, as this has become a major issue with opaque regions and masks.   NOTHING looks right in our project, it is a major pain to work on sections with this bug.  Please Fix!!!

ok, I think I have discovered culprit, any view with the client's model linked and view settings on, mask doesn't work.  With the linked model view settings off, mask works.  Not sure it this helps anyone find an "easy" solution.  Client's model is version 2013 as well.
