Hi everyone,
I'm new with Revit and I need to create a family of supports or hangers.
Which template should I use if I want to place my supports on my pipes and then adjust the parameters to make it fit on steel beams?
I tried to use Plumbing Fixtures, but when I inserted it in my project, i couldn't place them the way I wanted.
Regards,
William Comtois
P.S. : I found a topic on the subject, but it didn't really help me out - http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/Autodesk-Revit-MEP/Q

We have used pipe accessories and that seem to work well.

I am using 2013. I had to create it with a generic model template then change it before I started modeling the hangers.

Ok, I am using 2013 too, but when you say that you had to change it before you started modeling the hangers, what did you change?

Well, and do I need to change any parameters or just change the categorie to "pipe accessories"?
I tried to just change the categorie, i modeled something simple (A cylinder) and I tried to insert it in my project. Nothing happened... My cylinder seems not to be added in my project...
Some ideas?

Hi you need to be using a Generic Model Template found in (C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\RME 2011\Metric Templates)
Make sure to add Pipe Connectors one in and one out. (See image attached)
For family Category & Parameters make you’re to Part Type is set at Breaks Into (See image attached)

Thanks for your answer,
I tried to create a simple cylinder and to put it down on my piping system the way you told me to do it, but when i do so, some transitions appear on both sides of my cylinder (see image attached)
Is there anything to do to avoid those transitions?
Thanks,
Will

Hi mate
You need to make sure that your radius on your pipe connector is the same size as the pipe in your model. See image attached.
