Has anyone heard of when ADESK will put some serious development into REVIT's "Text" features? It's only been several years.

Makes it tough to push all work out of ACAD and into REVIT with it's short comings.

Yes, text greatly needs improvement. I try to avoid the basic text whenever possible though the use of schedules, generic annotations, tags, etc. and those seem to work for the most part. Are there any specific issues you are having? Details and examples are always a great compliment to posts such as this one - then if they do happen to see it, the specifics will help.

As you stated, they need all around improvement. If they simply mimic'd the CAD version of MTEXT, all would be well.

We don't even use the bulleting feature because you can't skip lines. And the notes i'm referring to are drawing notes. In the electrical discipline it is not uncommon to have 50+ notes on a sheet. And you look 1 line of space using our method to compensate. Not skipping spaces isn't an option.

Absolutely. And we, too, quickly realized how useless the bulleting is for us, and for that exact reason. Attached is the work-around I use to avoid the text. The first image is a collection of Generic Annotations that are scheduled by a Note Block. With a little tweaking, it ends up looking half-way decent.

My thought process has always been to live with the shortcomings, not re-invent the wheel and eventually the text will play catch up. I was thrilled to beta 2011 when the bullets became relevant which then led to disappointment when I actually used them.

Right now, I use templates for everything. So any change I make I would need to make it across the board (drawings, risers, details, etc). It's why I prefer to wait then to try and think of work arounds.

Frustrating that something so simple is so under developed.

You're right. But in some cases, such as this, it seems so far behind that I wonder if it's even moving, let alone catching up.

Although the request to improve the test functionality in Revit is already logged with our Development group, you can add your own comments by using this link  which is setup for you to submit feature requests, or feedback, directly to our Development group.

I encourage you to use the feedback link as our Development group is always interested and would like to hear your feedback directly, since you are better suited to state the business case for a feature request.
