Can anyone tell me how to find the elevation family to edit it. When I upgraded to Revit 8 the elevation family disappeared. I have it in other projects and can copy it into a new project but can not edit it.

If you mean the elevation symbol, it is not a family it is hard coded and you just pick on it and edit its variables. Level tags and sections are families, the elevation symbol is the only one that is not.

When I pick on it and go to properties there is no way to modify the size or the font etc. You can just choose one type or the other.

Go to Settings|View Tags|Elevation Tags to edit the look of the elevation
tag.
