    hello,

    anyone can help?

i have a cantilevered concrete rectangular beam cutting across a sloping rc roof.

how do i cut away the beam at an angle perpendicular to the roof slope?

Create a Reference Plane in elevation of section at the angle you want to cut the beam.

Then use Cut Geometry to trim the beam.

You can cut the beam in elevation using a slanted reference plane and the Cut Geometry tool in Revit Structure, not in Revit Architecture.

In Revit Architecture, use Opening by face, creating a sketch with a polygon that cuts the beam in that shape, as if it was a void.

    See illustration.

    Alf,

    As always, you are correct!

The ref plane cut works for wood and steel beams, but not concrete..............

    cheers

    Dear,

About cutting concrete beams with an angle , the solution :

Go to family editor of the beam.

go to family category and parameters

change the structural material type into steel.

back to the model, use a reference plane and cut.... should work now

It solves the cutting, but then you can't get the concrete beam back to be "concrete" material in the family, without getting errors in the project. I wonder if that might cause other issues.
