Wood Framing Extension for Autodesk Revit Architecture 2012

I am a full-time student in a civil engineering program right now.

I drew up a structure in Revit Architecture for a timber structures project.

I would like to be able to obtain this wood framing extension without my having to have a "subscription contract."

Also, how do I put plywood/sheathing on top of trusses? I can call the family, but I try to sketch the area by footprint on top of the trusses and it won't let me.

Without a subscription contact you cannot log in to get the extension. I would talk to your school to see if they can download and install in your school PC's. As for you plywood question, did you try to model in place? Or can you add the plywood to the family?

    Thanks for posting,

I know how to input the plywood family.

    I don't understand the model in-place.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. In Revit click Home > Component and click the little arrow on the Component button and choose  Model in Place. Choose a Family Category > Name it > create your element with the Forms tools > click Finish Model when finished.

This is the same as the Family Editor but your are in the project modeling a family.

Hope this helps and thanks for posting.

    Hello,

I am student as well and have the revit structure student version.

I don´t understand why revit structure doesn´t have the wood framing tool. It´s something so basic in the construction design world!!!

Why is it an extension? Why do I have to buy a suscripcion if I am a student?

I am sorry but in this case Autodesk doesn´t help the student community.

It is a trouble for all us.
