I am used to searching for Elements by using their IDs, however in editing a door family I have been stumped by a dialogue, herewith:
The unusual thing with this is that this dialogue is always followed by another stating that 'No good view could be found', whatever view I try to look for them in! Having opened every view in the family and done a search I am wondering what next to do? Any suggestions please?

I see 2 ID numbers. Those are 2 objects, not one. There should be a comma in between if you want to select 2 objects.

Alfredo
Both numbers were separated by semicolons as requested by the 'Select Elements by ID' dialog, it does not matter how many elements you enter, separated by semicolons, the resultant dialog as shown in my previous post does not include the semicolons but inserts a space.
I can confirm that I have tried both the IDs individually with the same result.

It works with comma, too. Did you try with comma?

Could it be that those elements are not model element at all, and therefore unselectable? I believe that other things (for example Project Information) also has an element ID, but I could be wrong. What prompted you to search for those particular ID's?

I retrieved the IDs after expanding this error box:
and getting this:
You will see that the Element IDs in question are a symbolic line and a dimension, so should be availible for selection.
I should say that this occurs when I try to make a family type with a reduced height to what is a door family with all other types sharing a common size. In fact it is an 'out of the box' external door called family ExtSgl (2) which I have used as a base for a similar door. For interest the original can be edited without issue so I can only think that it is something I have done during the edit but cannot fathom what it is. Out of interest I add my edited file.
Thanks for your help.

After changing the height, before using "Apply" move the Family Types window to a corner of the screen, the upper left corner, click "Apply" and the error message will appear. Click on "Show" and you will be able to start seeing the places where the errors are. Most likely you will need to delete the constraints to continue.
What happens in this case, is that if "Height" is too low, other extrusions could not be made, since the door has some extrusions in the lower half. Probably the height of those elements need to be constrained to be a portion of Height, with a formula, so that if Height changes, the other elements change proportionaly, without breaking.
