Screen Resolution requirements - Set in stone?

    Hi,

So the resolution for 2012 Revit is 1,680 x 1,050 monitor with true color, according to the system requirements on the product page.

Is that a REQUIREMENT? Can I use a monitor with a smaller screen resolution?  If so, what will I be sacrificing?

    Thank you so much.

You can technically use a display with a lower resolution but it will collapse some tools and some larger menus may not display as desired.  For example, the tools may appear similar to the image below in a collapsed state or with smaller icons:

The recommendation was the resolution the application was built around as a best starting point.

    Thank you,

    Nice! Thank you.  I went ahead and purchased a 21.5" monitor with a 1920 X 1080 resolution.
